Over the last few months, we’ve all had to adjust to a new way of living, however temporary that may be, and we’ve all had to do without a few creature comforts, such as popping to our local beauty salon for some me time and a skincare treatment or two.
As a matter of necessity, we’ve all had to become our own personal beauticians and make sure we’ve been looking after our skin as best we can since the pandemic started and lockdown restrictions meant we couldn’t seek professional advice – and it’s possible that a few bad habits have been picked up, as a result.
The internet has proven its worth since March 2020, but researching skincare online can have its pitfalls and it’s essential that you know your skin type before you buy products so you know they won’t damage your skin. Always read the ingredients and know that what you’re investing in is well suited to your skin type.
Extraction of blackheads, spots and pimples is also something best left to professionals, as they’re not all created equal and you can cause real damage to your skin if you squeeze something you shouldn’t.
But, if you simply must do it, make sure that you attempt the procedure after a warm shower to open up your pores. And make sure that you’re gentle with your skin as you go, never forcing a spot if it doesn’t go easily.
And something else you may well have started to forgo, as a result of being at home all the time, is failing to use SPF each day. This is an essential part of any good skincare routine, whether you’re spending a lot of time indoors or not.
